Talks about the RNLI and Scarborough Lifeboat Station

Schools, Youth Groups and Adult Groups.

Our life saving work started here in Scarborough in March 1801 with a rowing boat which was not self righting, no lifejackets and none of the modern wet weather clothing which is worn today. Brave men risking all for the sake of others. Moving on through time developments have made our work safer and more effective. Our talks take you through the history timeline with photographs and video clips. We also cover sea and water safety as our "Respect the Water" campaign with its strapline of "Float to Live" is trying to reduce the number of drownings both at the coast and also inland.

Our talks are tailored to the age of the audience, this particulaly applies to school talks and talks to young people with our water safety messaging

Talks can be given to individual classes, year groups or to the whole school in an assembly. If the class is doing a topic relevent to our work then we can tailor the talk to cover the topic. The presentation is done using Powerpoint.

We are particulary keen to speak to Primary Year 5/6 in the Summer term regarding Water Safety and also to all classes in the Secondary Schools.

We are delighted to be asked to give talks to adult groups. We can do mornings, afternoons or evenings and are prepared to travel reasonable distances (if you are unsure if we can cover your group please ask because if we can't then another group may be able to cover so that you don't miss out). We do not charge a fee but if we are travelling a distance then assitance with travel costs would be appreciated, also donations are also of great help. If requested we can bring souveniers to sell.
